ASME Past President Richard Robertson Dies ASME Past President Richard Robertson Dies ASME Past President Richard Robertson Dies ASME Past President Richard Robertson ASME Past President Richard Bentley Robertson, P.E., who filled in as leader of the Society in 1974-1975, died June 27 in Gonzales, La. Robertson, who was additionally an ASME Fellow, was 98 years of age. Conceived on May 8, 1920, Robertson moved on from Purdue University in 1942 with a single guys degree in mechanical designing. He served in World War II in the U.S. Naval force Reserve and later as a lieutenant in the U.S. Armed force Field Artillery with the 77th Division and the eleventh Airborne Division in the Philippines and Japan. In the wake of planning airplane for Curtis-Wright in Columbus, Ohio, and working for United Airlines in different locales, Robertson went through 37 years at Bovay Engineers in Houston, Texas, in such jobs as official VP and executive directing the structure and development of electric force age plants. Notwithstanding filling in as the 93rd leader of ASME, Robertson served the Society in various influential positions, including individual from the Committee of Past Presidents, seat and individual from the Committee on Investment, VP and secretary of ASMEs previous International and Southwest Region from 1969 to 1971, seat of the South Texas Section, individual from the Professional Affairs Policy Board, and an individual from the Professional Practice Committee. He supported the first ASME understudy segments in Mexico and was one of the pioneers of the 1970 ASME Goals Conference at Arden House in Harriman, N.Y. Robertson was additionally an individual from the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Institute of Consulting Engineers just as past leader of the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society, past leader of the Engineers Council of Houston, Honorary Member of Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi of Texas AM University, a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus and Outstanding Mechanical Engineering Graduate of Purdue University and the chief of seven organizations. He was an enrolled Professional Engineer in five states.
